Gone to Waste

The problem with plans is that they're often subjected to a large number of variables. Some of these variables include bad luck, punctuality problems and random last minute changes. Thats the bloody problem with plans. They NEVER ever go as intended. Ever.

2 Cents

I believe that the S$6,110 dollars I paid for school was to listen to what the one with the qualification has to say; and not your opinion on whether the air-conditioning in the LT was working a not.

The Picture

At first glance, it did not seem like much. It wasn't exactly the first time I had seen the damn photo. The photograph regardless of it being shot in 1995, 1998, 2005, 2006 or now, 2009 looked exactly the same. The ridiculous grin, the imposing backdrop and immaculately starched shirts... serve nothing but to remind me of what could have been... what should have been. Time, contrary to popular belief, doesn't heal wounds, it merely prolongs the pain and scars of what should not have been.

I picked up the photograph and glanced at the joyous yet altogether depressing shot before me. I stare intently into the picture hoping to convince myself that I have managed to put it all behind. I couldn't. The words uttered that night by the pool, the fleeting memory of the instant where I realized that it was not to be, the very first time I walked into the compound where I never thought I would be in... it all comes rushing back in a myriad of emotions. Rage, fear, sadness, a warped sense of injustice and most notably, an unparalleled sense of failure... The picture, or what it had been a mere seconds ago, now lay crushed, torn and shredded on the bathroom floor in the exact same manner my dreams did that fateful day.

I don't think I am over it. I don't think I ever will get over it. A source of strength or perpetual heartache? What it will or might be in the future, no one will know, not even I. Its impacts however are already being felt in the most subtlest of ways. The fear of taking responsibility, the disdain for authoritative figures, the immense hatred for those who wield their privileges without regard for others... all it took was an ill placed comment and a picture. A god-damn picture. Its not over yet; not now, not ever.

Weapon A18. Coming to a road near you.

2 more hours

2.2 km. 8 and a half minutes of pain to save myself from a semester and a half of embarrassment. Its like drinking expresso shots when you're preference is cappuccino... bah...

Blogging Afterthoughts

A 20 km drive in a great car to the hottest party in the newest club in town OR a 140 km ride on a trusty bike through the hottest route in the quietest street in a village?

A pricy feast in a 6 star hotel OR a 3 RM plate of noodles in a shophouse?

A bottle of champagne after a long night out partying OR a sip of water after a long morning training?

A lifetime of regrets or a second of happiness?

I made my choice. Have you?

A Picture Paints a thousand words... Here's to eight to nine, maybe ten over thousand words :)

In no random order whatsoever... here are the rest of the pictures from Sunday's Desaru Ride.

Anyway, it is really hard to reduce the ride to a single entry. Awesome, as previously mentioned, is the best adjective to describe the experience we had that day. The ride up in the direction of Desaru was a rather painful, challenging yet altogether thrilling one. Riding against a headwind of approximately 7-10 km/h (Safe estimate based on the calculations of Nic the Science Student), we struggled pretty hard against the hills and the wind. After a 20 min break at the Petronas Petrol Kiosk 6 km away from the round-about, we made our way back towards Pengarang, stopping for refreshments only at the village 17km from the jetty. The ride back was a fast one with us averaging a 42 - 44 km/h ride back (Based on my (a struggling statistics student) calculations.)  Words fail to do justice to the life-changing, level up-grading ride we had that day. Total mileage that day was about 142.5 km with about 125 of it in Malaysia... Till the next ride... and next entry :)

The Wall

The mind was willing but the body was weak. A first no doubt, as the vice versa usually occurs. A let down is something I really don't want to be but it seems as the moment draws nearer and as the hours pass, I seem dreadfully close to turning the one nightmare I can't shake off into reality. It could be the lack of focus. The wandering of the mind perhaps. Or perhaps the absence of discipline in the soul. Whatever it is, its winning. D-Day isn't a lifetime away. 40 days away isn't an eternity. So many opportunities, so little time. So much potential, way too little discipline. Much to do, much to change. Let not the mind nor the body fail me now. nor ever.

I should be working...

I decided that this entry couldn't wait. Trivial as it might seem to some, this event is a testimony to my flaws and how well these flaws flow in line with the grand plan the man up there has for us. At 12.15 p.m. this lazy Thursday afternoon, I called JJ for lunch but he didn't pick up his phone. I proceeded to text Nic with regards to lunch arrangements and as I was about to continue messaging the last remaining member of "TH Male Triathletes ", Nic called back to inform me that he would be chowing with a friend at YIH. I took the bus down and met them just as they were tucking in. During lunch, Nic asked if he could loan the fridge from me for a bazaar store they would be having sometime next week. Upon further enquires, I managed to get the kind souls to let me sell some of my ware too with them. The good news doesn't end there. I decided to follow Nic, after lunch, to the post office (For whatever reason I don't know). Whilst he was sorting out his mail and stuff, I chanced upon an auto-vehicle vacuum cleaner behind the counter and in the blink of an eye, the transaction for that vacuum cleaner was history. (Been looking for a cheap and good vacuum cleaner for the Rush for ages... how cool is that to finally chance upon one... in the post office). Again... the story doesn't end there. The Vacuum cleaner came with a free gift, that being a torch light/ tool box gadget which had within it the micro screw-driver which I was hunting high and low for to change my calculator batteries... Its amazing how the choices we make at times aren't really choices at all. Bah... Random thoughts... haha... back to work :)

PS: IT has finally arrived...

My Two Cents

This week has been a rather thrilling week for me. Taking into account the fact that as an economics-to-be major in the single most glorious institution for tertiary education in our little red dot, the events which have occurred the past week has put that sparkle of life and excitement back in my boring, mundane life.

Let's be organized and divide this entry into parts. Each part won't necessarily be elaborated on as sometimes the topic itself speaks wonders. On second thought, lets not elaborate on the individual events but list them out accordingly. Those who need to know already know and those who want to know more... go ask those who already know that of what is known. If the last two weeks were to be compiled into a book, the contents page would be as follows:

My Life (from two weeks ago till now)
by
Yours Truly

Chapter 1: A Punctured tire does not always mean the end of the road
Chapter 2: Want to try something impossible? Order a bike frame!
Chapter 3: The damn customer is ALWAYS right
Chapter 4: Milk has an expiry date for a reason
Chapter 5: Hitting the wall. The only way to go is... UP.
Chapter 6: Singapore Sale? Try LT27 @ 9.42 a.m.
Chapter 7: National Language = Chinese-accented English
Chapter 8: Le tour de France Cap is not a Helmet
Chapter 9: Food = Pleasure not PAIN

Epilogue (Some things are best left unsaid)
Acknowledgments (Those morons know who they are...)

Ta Da! Two weeks in 11+ lines. Cheers :)

Her Morning Elegance by Oren Lavie

Great MV, even better music. Thanks Jon Ma... :)

Sun been down for days
A pretty flower in a vase
A slipper by the fireplace
A cello lying in it's case

Soon she's down the stairs
Her morning elegance she wears
The sound of water makes her dream
Awoken by a cloud of steam
She pours a daydream in a cup
A spoon of sugar sweetens up

And She fights for her life
As she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain
As it pours
And she fights for her life
As she goes in a store
With a thought she has caught
By a thread
She pays for the bread
And She goes...
Nobody knows

Sun been down for days
A winter melody she plays
The thunder makes her contemplate
She hears a noise behind the gate
Perhaps a letter with a dove
Perhaps a stranger she could love

And She fights for her life
As she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain
As it pours
And she fights for her life
As she goes in a store
With a thought she has caught
By a thread
She pays for the bread
And She goes...
Nobody knows

And She fights for her life
As she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain
As it pours
And she fights for her life
Where people are pleasently strange
And counting the change
And She goes...
Nobody knows

Swimming 2.5 km in one go... an evil necessity... I will (YES ZY.... :P) attempt to put something up here soon but for now... I am going to nap :)
