Conversations of the shaft... a lift shaft that is...

Having ended my French Class at about 11.45 pm, I decided to make my way to YIH to grab some of that good cheap chinese food. Being the lazy triathlete that I am, I decided to take the lift up to the canteen.

After a 1-2 minute wait, the lift arrived. I, together with a bunch of other famished souls entered the lift. I pressed the button to the 3rd floor and took a step back. Now for the interesting part.

As the lift door was closing, a student from the back lunged forward, past the group gathered at the door and tried to reach for the control panel. As he lurged forward, he made a series of yelping sounds as he shoved and jumped forward, tripping all over the place in the process. The rest of us just looked on in shock as this student threw himself towards the control panel and pushed his way forward. He missed the control panel and slammed into the lift wall instead and watched on in horror as the door shut in his face. He then turned around and looked disapprovingly at me.

"There was someone outside the lift you know?" he muttered rather disappointedly at me.

I burst out laughing and replied, "Dude, I am pretty sure this lift will go down again. That aside, you need to get a grip on yourself. That was some serious over-reaction you had going on that... You could have just shouted out to us to hold the lift instead of throwing out the theatrics..."

A wave of giggles came over most of the passengers in the lift. After what seemed like an eternity, the lift finally reached the third floor and the group of us, after taking a final look at the enthusiastic samaritan, trickled out and went about on our own ways :) What a journey.
